Excellent Chinese food with a modern twist. We had the alumni get together in a big dining room that can seat 24 ppl. They can also accommodate karaoke! We ordered all kinds of meat, seafood, soup and appetizers. The lobster, fatty duck and sweet and sour fish are must-haves!

After having a very bad experience at Sichuan Impression, which had been one of my favorite restaurants for many years, we decided to switch our go-to Sichuan restaurant. Chengdu Impression offers authentic, classic Chengdu cuisine--it's not modified for American tastes. Be cautious with the spice level, especially with the cold dishes. They are spicier than usual, even compared to Chengdu's local standards. The numbing sensation (numbing spice) isn't as strong as I would have liked. Overall, it's a good restaurant with classic, straightforward cooking--nothing fancy. If you're looking for traditional Sichuan flavors, this place is worth a try. 酸辣凉粉 Hot & Sour Jelly Noodle - $12.99 The texture was excellent, with a perfect balance between softness and firmness. It was spicier than average, with a good flavor and the strong fragrance of Sichuan red oil. 8/10 青椒拌茄子 Eggplant in Green Pepper Sauce - $12.99 It was acceptable, but the eggplant wasn't as good as what you'd typically find in China. 7/10 夫妻肺片 Sliced Beef & Beef Tripe in Chili Sauce - $23.99 Very spicy, with the beef and tripe sliced thinly to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat. 8/10 仔薑田雞 Stewed Bullfrogs in Spicy Ginger Broth - $36.99 There was an unpleasant smell, likely because the bullfrogs were frozen, not fresh. The ginger flavor was barely noticeable. Not recommended. 0/10 家常豆瓣鱸魚 Whole Bass with Spicy Bean Paste Sauce - $48.99 The taste was excellent, textbook-level cooking with a mild spice level. It was very good, though a bit on the expensive side. 9/10 油渣蓮白 Wok-Fried Cabbage with Crispy Lard - $15.99 The "crispy lard" had too much meat and wasn't the usual golden color. The stir-fry didn't have enough heat, which resulted in a lack of 鑊氣 (wok hei). 4/10 蒜香辣子雞 Dry Fried Diced Chicken with Chili and Garlic - $22.99 Very good. There are two types of fried diced chicken: dry and wet. This restaurant used the dry method, frying with corn/tomato starch, which gave the dish a great texture--crispy but not hard. The flavor was well-balanced too. 9/10 回鍋肉 Double-Cooked Pork Belly with Bean Paste Sauce - $22.99 I'm not sure why they called it "Double-Cooked"--the name seemed a bit off. Normally, this dish doesn't use pork belly, but more and more restaurants, especially outside China, are opting for it. Pork belly does taste better, and the addition of garlic leaves was a nice highlight. 8/10 鐵鍋小炒肥腸 Wok-Fried Pork Intestine with Chili - $22.99 What a brilliant idea to cook pork intestine with rice cake! I'm familiar with combining two traditionally unrelated foods, but I would have never imagined pairing rice cake and intestine. It's just those two ingredients--nothing else--but the taste was amazing. The intestines were soft, and the rice cakes were soft too, but in a different way. Really good. 8/10 麻婆豆腐 Mapo Tofu (with minced beef) - $16.99 Very classic texture and flavor, with no noticeable drawbacks. However, I couldn't really taste the minced beef. 8/10 蘿蔔燉牛肋條 Beef Rib Finger & White Radish Soup - $28.99 The best dish of the night. The beef was incredibly tender and juicy, without the typical overcooked texture of long-stewed meat. 10/10 紅糖冰粉 Iced Jelly with Brown Sugar Syrup - $5.99/each The best compliment for a dessert in Chinese cuisine is that it's not too sweet. This one definitely lives up to that standard. 8/10

I love this place, the food has been great over multiple visits. The spice isn't too overwhelming for most of the dishes which is great for an intro to Szechuan! Would definitely recommend to any newcomer

Chengdu Impression is a great spot for authentic Sichuan food! The interior is modern and stylish, and the service is friendly and attentive. I was a little disappointed with the spicy sour fish - the bell pepper threw off the flavor a bit for me. But their cauliflower dish was fantastic, and I noticed they offer a great lunch deal as well, which I'll definitely try next time! This place is also perfect for large parties. They have a private room upstairs that looks amazing, making it a great spot for group gatherings. Definitely worth checking out!

TLDR: One of the BEST Chinese spicy food locations that you can visit. If you can speak Mandarin, that's a big plus! I highly recommend everything on their menu but on a serious note can vouch for their mapo tofu and crispy spicy diced chicken. - - - - - - Ugh! I am soooo mad at myself for thinking that this was closed because I viewed it from the big parking lot! The window designs are so misleading... don't be fooled and make sure to walk in. And as you can imagine, big parking lot means easy parking - yay! I visited with a friend on a Saturday night and ordered their mapo tofu, crispy spicy diced chicken with dry chili, and asparagus with wood ear mushrooms. The mapo tofu was SPICY but in a good way; each bite was flavorful, and there is more than enough to go around for two. The asparagus and wood ear mushrooms were an excellent and gentle palate cleanser, a nice, crunchy relief from the resto f the spice in our dishes. And lastly, the spicy crispy spicy diced chicken... if you could chew fire and spit fireballs, this is probably the closest thing to it - it's addicting. Despite how spicy it is, it was so tasty that it was difficult to not take another bite... my friend and I ate this it were dessert and needless to say, no leftovers on this dish! Thankfully there is some relief for the hot and spicy dishes. The interior is decorated fairly clean, mostly lights and brights. The overall tone is quite relaxing, and contrasts well how much you "might" be sweating if you aren't used to handling spicy foods.

- Locale Destination - Ambiance: very casual with a touch of upper-scale-like decor. But overall it's not fancy unlike the menu price. Menu: duck, seafood, noodle etc. Wide range. Price: $$$, not $$$. Sides start from $16, entrees like +$30 at least. For this casual setting, way overpriced. Service: fast and minimal. Plastic water bottle, paper napkins for $$$. Parking: We walked from our hotel, so I'm not sure. - Gluttony Expedition - Mapo tofu: very authentic flavor with all spices. Quite spicy but tasty! Very big portion easily for 3 people. Beef with shishito peppers: very spicy but tasty. Cabbage: unlike other items, this isn't spicy, which is great to mild out the overall spiciness. Very good. - Conqueror's Deduction - Foods were all tasty, but quite spicy - I've warned you. The price is a bit too overpriced - taste quality is high, but no ambiance and very small portions for the price. It's definitely not $$. It's more like $$$. 3 dishes are more than enough for 2 people despite of small portions (probably due to the spiciness, we were too full). If you want really authentic flavors, come here!

Best dish I can recommend is the beef tendon and bamboo. This dish had all the glorious numbing spiciness flavors I was looking for, and the bamboo and tendon were so great together. I actually tried to recreate this dish a week or so later, definitely not as good as theirs, but I'm inspired by this combo of crunchy bamboo and tender meat. The dan dan noodles weren't really anything special, so you can skip this one if you're not a big fan of them. I would recommend the dish I mentioned above, and the twice cooked pork. Really tasty!
